C: Adriano Visconti November 1915 – 29 April one of Italy’s top scoring aces and Commander of the Gruppo Caccia ‘Asso di Bastoni’ Fighter Group ‘Ace of Clubs’) poses next to his Macchi ‘Veltro’ (Greyhound).
To avoid bad luck a group of Italian fighter pilots, before the mission, playing with the mascot of their Squadriglia (perhaps Squadriglia) which salute “romanamente” (the Fascist salute) with the right leg. The fighter is a Macchi
Bf 109G-8 ‘White 14’ flown by Oblt. Heimo Emmerstorfer, Technisches Offizier, 1./NAGr. 12, Mostar, Spring 1944 . Emmerstorfer is here seen climbing down from ‘White 14’. The camo zig-zag stripe effect has been airbrushed on free-hand in the field and has a very irregular edge. Emmerstorfer’s logged 1134 flight hours as a recce pilot and flew 217 combat sorties.
An young and well dressed Italian military pilot boarding on a fighter aircraft Macchi “Folgore”. Note an immaculate flying jacket Marus weared over an uniform well pressed and boat polished: a great difference with the pilots at the front.
