Today's HELLO HEDI Book of the Day: Backyard Food Chain II by Elizabeth Sanford. I'm a huge fan of Elizabeth's painted books. This one is a flag book but the top row of flags function like a tunnel book as you look through the pages. Her birds are always sweet. And, I like the unique way she adds words to her paintings with the punched dots. Lovely work!

'Map for Finding Yesterday' by Mia Leijonstedt. Concertina book. This book draws its inspiration from antique maps. The light-weight drift wood covers continue the imagery in material form. Imaginary, symbolic writing is burnt through the pages – the effect of which adds to the concept of time when the book is viewed against a light source.

Turn I by Charles Saul. Celebrates the cyclical process of nature & offers viewer time to reflect on their relationships to these cycles. Colors of contrasting opposites move around the circular design, meeting briefly before separating again conveying harmony of mixing of opposites. Found objects from woodland floors recontextualized to become an integral part of the structure, acting as hinges for the outer 'concertina' form.
