Among the southern star groups and constellations looked at by Hale were the Hyades, Taurus, the Pleiades and Orion,all of which have been put forward as matching the orientations of the twin pillars in the various enclosures at Göbekli Tepe ( Turkiye) during the epoch of their construction, c. 10,000- 9000 BC (Dr Robert Schoch's book Forgotten Civilization, 2012).Just one potential candidate emerged as perhaps playing some role at Göbekli Tepe, and this was Orion, the celestial hunter.

The circles were not coterminous, but were built successively over this extended period. The enclosures excavated thus far are arranged in calendar-like circle structures made up of nearly 12 sculptured pillars, with two offset T-shape pillars dominating each circle at the centre.
