Looking For Alaska, by John Green. Another good read that slowly creeps under your skin. Green's books start to have a similarity -- manic pixie dream girl sparks something in a semi-lost teen boy -- but his writing is good enough to overcome it. He does introspection well enough that if feels less like navel-gazing and more like the thinking everybody needs to do to move into adulthood. A teen learns he isn't immortal: "Everything that comes together falls apart."

Blood Meridian or The Evening Redness in the West, The most brutal and accurate book about mid to late 1800's America. This book is, line by line and page by page the most beautiful and terrible thing I've ever read.

Blood Meridian: Or the Evening Redness in the West: Cormac McCarthy:

"I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery—air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, 'This is what it is to be happy.'"

The Bell Jar- Sylvia Plath "To the person in the bell jar, blank and stopped as a dead baby, the world itself is the bad dream." --> Currently reading 'The bell jar', so far so good.
