The Palazzo Farnese, one of grandest Renaissance palaces in Rome, was started by Paul III in 1517, when he was first appointed Cardinal, with designs by Sangallo the Younger. After becoming pope in 1534, it was greatly extended with the help of famous architects like Michelangelo, Vignola, and della Porta. It once housed the famous Farnese Collection, which is now mostly in Naples. Today, the palace is the home of the French Embassy.

Caprarola, villa Farnese. "l'involucro dell'edificio si ispessisce cosi tanto da diventare abitato, costruendo un bordo articolato all'interno e un volume nettamente geometrico all'esterno"

New-York Historical Society ~ As the antiquated hyphenated name implies, the Historical Society is the city’s oldest museum, founded in 1804. Its collection is quirky and fascinating and includes everything from George Washington’s inauguration chair to a 19th century Tiffany ice cream dish (gilded, of course). Pay what you wish, 6-8pm Friday. http://www.lonelyplanet.com/usa/new-york-city/sights/museums-galleries/new-york-historical-society#ixzz2kgu6s4hq
