Ok, Frederick is not a real person. He's a fictional mouse, but Leo Lionni's book is a perfect argument for why liberal arts can't be disregarded. While his fellow mice are gathering food for winter, Frederick appears to be doing nothing. He's "collecting colors," he says, and words, and sunbeams.
