Marcello Nizzoli

Marcello Nizzoli (Italian pronunciation: [marˈtʃɛllo nitˈtsɔli]; 1887 - 1969) was an Italian artist, architect, industrial and graphic designer. He was the chief designer for Olivetti for many years and was responsible notably for the iconic Lettera 22 portable typewriters in 1950. The influence of Futurism and, particularly, the work of Fortunato Depero were fundamentally important in his cultural formation.

Ettore Sottsass for Olivetti 1969. 'More a design statement than an office item'...I love this for the same reason I loved the iMac when it was released. "When I was young, all we ever heard about was functionalism, functionalism, functionalism,” said Sottsass. “It’s not enough. Design should also be sensual and exciting." Although not a commercial success, it won the hearts of the creative minds globally.
