Unusually, the 104th Regiment used buglers throughout its companies despite being an ordinary line infantry regiment, as its colonel was a light infantry enthusiast who trained his men to fight as such. Indeed, Lt. John Le Couteur, a subaltern in the 104th’s light company recalled the regiment’s buglers playing ‘The Girl I left Behind Me’ when the regiment departed Fredericton for Upper Canada.
Captain William Bradley’s Portable Writing Desk, 104th (New Brunswick) Regiment of Foot (Canadian War Museum) promoted Capt. 16 April 1812, half pay 25 May 1817, died 2 Oct. 1850 at Gloucester, Canada West

This red coat, on display at the Cape Ann Museum in Gloucester. An enlisted man in the 104th New Brunswick Regiment was slated to receive this coat, but it never arrived. It was probably part of a shipment bound for Quebec City on British transport ship which was captured by a Salem privateer. The seized coats were sold to the U.S. Army, which issued them to musicians. This coat eventually came into the possession of the Somes family of Gloucester. It was donated to the museum in 1946.
