A list of recipes for gallbladder appropriate foods

People with diabetes, cirrhosis of the liver, or who have had bone marrow or organ TRANSPLANTS are at an increased risk. Certain conditions that affect the liver’s production of bilirubin such as hemolytic ANEMIA will also make you more likely to develop gallstones. If surgery is not an option, some people find ursodeoxycholic acid helpful.  In some cases, gallstones can be treated with medicine. Certain chemicals, ursodiol or chenodiol, which have been shown to dissolve some gallstones, are available in oral bile acid pills. These medicines work by thinning the bile, which allows gallstones to dissolve. This medication works to dissolve gallstones but can be slow to take effect and only works in about half of the people who take it. Finally, some people do lithotripsy – using shockwaves to break up the stones. Safe for gallstones section... Shellfish includes shrimp, crab, lobster and scallops. Shellfish is naturally low in fat, making it a good choice in your diet for gallstones. Very low-fat fish choices include cod, flounder, haddock, pollock and orange roughy. Fatty fish, which includes salmon, tuna and trout. If your gallstones are causing pain, you may need to avoid or limit fatty fish.  Safe for pregnancy section... about 2 to 3 servings of fish per week, which can be eaten in place of other types of protein. Make sure to choose a variety of fish lower in mercury, such as salmon(fatty), tilapia(safe for gallstones?), shrimp(shellfish okay), tuna(fatty) (canned light), cod(lower fat), and catfish (safe for gallstones?). Consumption of white (albacore) tuna (fatty) should not exceed 6 ounces per week. Flounder (low-fat) is okay during pregnancy Haddock (low-fat) is safe during pregnancy. Pollock (low-fat) is safe during pregnancy. Orange roughy (low-fat) is safe during pregnancy. If you eat orange roughy (deep sea perch) or catfish you should eat only one serve (3 ounces) and no other fish in that week. You can safely eat two or three serves of canned or fresh tuna and salmon each week, but no more than 12 ounces of any fish per week. CAN HAVE SKIM MILK YOGURT, FAT-FREE CHEESE, LOW FAT COTTAGE CHEESE, NONFAT SOUR CREAM. CAN HAVE PRIME CUTS OF LEAN MEATS, COLD WATER PREGNANCY SAFE FISH, AND BEANS TO MEET PROTEIN NEEDS. CAN HAVE POULTRY WITHOUT SKIN CAN HAVE LEAN BEEF CAN HAVE FAT FREE DELI MEAT THAT IS STEAMING HOT TO KILL BACTERIA SUCH AS LISTERIA. CAN HAVE SORBET AND PUDDING MADE WITH SKIM MILK, NONFAT FROZEN YOGURT, FRUIT ICE, SORBET, GELATIN, VANILLA WAFERS* GINGER SNAPS* GRAHAM CRACKERS*. when a gallstone passes out of the gallbladder duct and into the main bile duct, it can lead to a bile duct infection that can ultimately cause inflammation of the pancreas. One cleanse recommends doing an apple juice fast a day or two before treatment. Begin your cleanse on a day like Friday – that way you don’t have to work the next day – as you might experience nausea and or vomiting and probably don’t want to be burdened with this while at work. Plus you will need to relax and let your body expel the stones. The treatment involves drinking ¼ cup of olive oil followed by 1 to 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. This is to be repeated every 15 minutes until a half pint of the oil is consumed. Your first bowel movement might not occur until the next day. The stones will start to pass shortly thereafter. Make sure you drink plenty of fresh water and some multi-vitamins to allow your body to heal. Some people have trouble consuming so much oil and experience an upset stomach. Be sure to have some V8 pr pineapple juice on hand to calm your stomach. Some find that adding a bit of peppermint oil to the olive oil makes it slightly more palatable. Most natural treatments involve the stimulation of the gallbladder and subsequent flow of bile. Some find that dandelion and milk thistle are helpful. You can eat them raw, as a supplement, or even in a tea. Oregon grape seems to have similar benefits of improving bile production.  Rosemary is also used to eliminate painful spasms in the ducts and increase bile production. Mint oil capsules have been used to break down smaller stones. Wild yam can not only increase the flow of bile but also ease the pain of attacks. People who don’t get enough of vitamins C or E or calcium tend to have more gallstones. The accompanying symptoms are gas, cramping, and even jaundice.
