The city of Pompeii was buried nearly instantly in 20 feet of ash in 79 A.D. when Mt. Vesuvius erupted. The ash was hot and breathing it would feel like swallowing tiny shards of broken glass. "Painful" is putting it mildly.

Pompeii Bath House - The art, while faded and in ruins, is still glorious. The carvings, paintings and mosaics and even architecture. Brilliant, vibrant and sensuous.

The dancing faun, located in one of the largest, most luxurious homes in Pompeii. This home, named House of the Faun after this bronze statue, contained many important works of art.
