Black Tamanous (Native American) - This black tarry ooze monster feasts on the act of cannibalism. They merge their bodies with sleeping creatures and then force their hosts to feast on their own kind. After the tamanous gets bored with its current host it will leave the body to search for a better one, leaving the previous host behind to rot away in a black pool of its own corrupted hunger, becoming a new Tamanous. "Even deeper still, one would encounter creatures so large, they outsize adult bears. Fighting them is a difficult task, as they do not respond much to conventional weapons and they leave heavy residue of tar behind them, making moving around them dangerous, as your feet may get stuck in the tar and you may stumble. Once stuck there is little one can do apart from utilizing fire, as attacking them with a close ranged weapon would likely result in the weapon being stuck in them. If one would…

A dragon design commission for a client over on DA! I was given pretty free reign, which was really nice! The first major pass at this was a lot less interesting, just a monster made of tar that happened to be dragon-shaped. I wasn't happy with it enough to move forward so I started looking at pictures of the La Brea Tarpits Museum (a place I've really wanted to visit!) and ended up with a new take to move forward with.

Today I was still in the mood to draw more of these fellas, I've got a few more coming later today/tomorrow, as I decided to just go for quick speedpaints with these so these were quite quick to make :) This one likely lurks around the ceilings of dungeons and caves, waiting around until something gets stuck in the tar pool below it. They are very slow, and if you are vigilant enough you can avoid them, but as they tend to lurk in dark places where their appearance blends in with their…

"Those fully dedicated to Boroxis may eventually become embraced by its form. However, the connection to Boroxis is a weak one and requires time and willpower to create, as it is a forgotten deity that few recall. Once this happens, however the cleric will be able to use its powers as if they were their own and thusly becomes a powerful warlock. However, the wisdom that one needs to initiate this process is plenty enough to drive one to the brink of lunacy, not to mention the eldritch…

"In addition to lurking in the ceilings, they can also stalk in the walls as well. While they are more prevalent near the ceiling in most areas, in tight spots of a cavern or dungeon they stick to the walls, grabbing anything that carelessly turns a corner or enters a tight passageway. Carrying fire is a good self defense, however it has to be a very strong fire or of a magical source to be of any effect as it can easily be smothered out by the tar beast."
