Skin tissue

The integumentary system consists of the largest organ of the body, the skin. Composed of three layers, the skin protects internal organs and tissues.

Epithelial tissues serve many purposes such as protection, secretion, absorbs, and filters what goes through cavities. There are many types of epithelial tissues, such as the epidermis (which is the outer layer of the skin). Epithelial tissues protects the body from bacteria. The epithelial tissues actually removes dust that is ingested during respiration. WOW! Note worthy!

Your skin has three layers that each serves an important purpose. Though you cannot see it, the innermost layer is composed of subcutaneous tissue, an all-important insulator that regulates your body's temperature and protects your insides.

This tissue is delicate with both collagen and elastin, while also containing fiber making cells (fibroblasts). The thick strands are the collagen fibers and the dark tiny strands are the elastic fibers, while the purple dots are fibroblasts. This tissue makes up the tissue under the skin which connects skin to muscle. If one is without collagen then the skin would not be sturdily connected to muscle and become super stretchy with just elastin.

Epithelial Tissue. Epithelial tissue covers the body’s outer surface and lines the internal closed cavities (including blood vessels) and body tubes that communicate with the exterior (gastrointestinal, respiratory, and genitourinary tracts). Epithelia tissue covers the body surfaces, lines body cavities, forms external and internal linings of many organs, and constitutes glands. It has many different forms for its many functions: protection, secretion, excretion, absorption, filtration, and sensation. Each type of epithelial tissue will be outlined in detail.

This tissue is made of white and clear cells that store fat droplets, so wherever there is fat there is adipose tissue! This tissue with fat insulates the body and provides cushion and energy. One can identify this tissue by its big white circles that represent the fat cells in the body. An issue with this can become if there becomes too much/big of adipose tissue created because that then would result in obesity.
