a bag sitting on top of a white chair next to a wooden floor and wall

I had a bit of a change of pace this week – No quilts, but instead I worked on a scrappy quilted tote bag for a yet-to-be-revealed friend of mine. A group of us from the Imagine circle of Do. Good Stitches bee decided to do a swap this month and this is the item I’ll be sending my partner. I can’t reveal who it is yet, but I still wanted to show what I’ve been working on. I used a fantastic tutorial that Amanda (a.k.a Jedi Craft Girl) wrote on her blog. I used her same measurements, but…

Schlep It Good Bag and Pattern - Part 1 From the age of twelve, I was so delighted when I was able to get a job, in our local delicatessen. I thought this was great fun. I suppose it wouldn't happen much these days, being employed at 12, but they trusted me to serve customers, take money, add up and provide correct change. I was even allowed to use the meat slicer! Although I was young and didn't get paid a wage as such, the shop owner would kindly allow me to take some things home as a…

It may have taken a long time, but I was able to turn my scrappy panels into scrappy bags. The bags were inspired by Amanda Jean's scrappy purse, but pieced using the pattern in Christina Cameli's Scrappy Market Tote class which I watched on Bluprint. Her class was wonderful. I finished the big one first. It was the size in Christina's pattern. And the other side. After awhile I finished the smaller one. I just altered the size of the panel and straps from Christina's pattern. And the other…

I have made 3 of these totes, the first two were given away in swaps. With this last one I took progress photos and wrote down measurements, and I'm going to keep this one. Photo heavy post! And some photos were taken at night, sorry about that - but that is when I can sew and when the progress photos get taken. Here are the other two totes I made with the same process This is the front of one This is the back of another The front of the one above Here is the finished tote for the tutorial…

a purse sitting on top of a wooden table next to a white and black wall

Remember I showed you this picture a couple of weeks ago??? It was the beginning of my Mondo Bag, from Quilt Smart. Ann and I saw tons of gals at Quilt Market with these totes, so ... of course, I had to make one too. I've never used a Quilt Smart product before - that's where you use a fusible interfacing as the base - but I was pleasantly surprised how easy it went together and all the intersections matched perfectly! Soooo, TA-DA ... here's my finished bag!! I don't know if you can tell…
