For Greek peoples in Alexandria and the Greek settlements in Egypt, Greek attire was the primary influence. The himation and chiton are frequently depicted and described in Hellenistic sources which only makes sense as Hellenic culture remained the primary influence on court culture and the culture of the poleis. Egyptians living in more rural areas continued to wear more traditional Egyptian clothing such as kilts, tunics and dresses.
