Common Pipistrelle Bat The common pipistrelle bat is the smallest & commonest bat found in the UK, with a wingspan of approximately 20 to 25 cms. The head & body is around 35mms. It has dark brown fur & skin. The ears are triangular & the tragus is short & rounded. Pipistrelles tend to fly quickly & erratically at head height. The common pipistrelle bat can be found throughout the UK & seen March to November. They will usually roost in buildings & trees & feed on flies, moths & midges.
