A 19th-century lighthouse is a beacon of pride for its owner.

Unlike an inn in Barnstable, Borden Flats Lighthouse, which Nick Korstad has owned for three years, doesn’t have running water. There is no Wi-Fi and no complimentary beach pass, and he certainly isn’t going to serve you pancakes in the morning.

I'd been wanting to do a fun cross section of a lighthouse for ages, so one Christmas I did this one for my nephew and neice. There's something very romantic and appealing about the thought of living in a lighthouse, being all cosily tucked up inside whilst stormy seas break against the sides. The reality is that I'm terrible with heights and being in the top of a lighthouse with a gale blowing outside would probably terrify me.
