Lesser Antilles, long arc of small islands in the Caribbean Sea extending in a north-south direction from the Virgin Islands to Grenada. The main island groups include the Windward and Leeward Islands; these names reflect the importance to the region of the prevailing easterly trade winds.

Amazona imperialis, Imperial Amazon, Sisserou. A rather large, dark and stout resident of wet upland forest. Endemic to the Caribbean island nation of Dominica in the Lesser Antilles. Found primarily in mountain rainforest, sometimes in elfin forest. They occur mostly at elevations of 600–1300 m ASL. The diet consists of fruits, seeds, nuts, berries, blossoms and palm shoots.
