Dunluce Castle, perched dramatically on the edge of a basalt cliff on the Antrim coast of Northern Ireland, has a storied past dating back to the 13th century. Originally built by the McQuillan family, it later became the stronghold of the powerful MacDonnell clan. The castle's location made it a strategic fortification, but its precarious position also led to part of it collapsing into the sea during a fierce storm in 1639. Dunluce was eventually abandoned in the 17th century
