FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT - Grant your faithful, we pray, Almighty God, the resolve to run forth to meet your Christ with righteous deeds at His coming, so that, gathered at His right hand, they may be worthy to possess the heavenly Kingdom. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen 🙏💜🙏

1st Sunday of Advent

The word “advent” means “coming”. The Church teaches us that during Advent we wait for two comings of Christ: we prepare to celebrate Christmas, when Christ first came into the world; and, we wait for Christ’s second coming at the end of time. Advent begins at sundown the eve of the fourth Sunday before Christmas and concludes at sundown on Christmas Eve. The First Sunday of Advent also heralds the beginning of the new Church Year, or Liturgical Year.
