Colorful birthday cake

7. Rainbow Unicorn Dreams Rainbow cakes is a colorful dessert that is popular for its vibrant and eye-catching appearance. It is a type of layered cake that is made up of multiple layers of colorful sponge cake, stacked on top of one another with a layer of frosting in between each layer of cake.

I loved finding this simple idea for decorating a birthday cake. It was perfect for my son's 2nd birthday. There is something special about sprinkles...my kids love them! I cut a "2" out of freezer paper and laid it over the top of the cake. I then pressed sprinkles into the frosting and brushed away loose sprinkles before removing the freezer paper stencil.

All it takes are a few drops of food coloring, an offset spatula, and a little patience to make a beautiful ombre cake. Here's how.
