*Castle Tioram home of Clan MacDonald of Clan Ranald. The last Scottish practitioner of Classic Gaelic poetry, Dòmhnall MacMhuirich, was a tenant on Clanranald lands in South Uist. The writers of, The Book of Clan Ranald; The MacDonald history, were the Mac Vurichs (MacMhuirich) the hereditary bards and historians of Clan Donald later Clanranald. They traced their descent to Muireach Albanach, c.1200, who was famous as a High Poet both in Ireland, to O’Donnell, and in Scotland.
