Melanistic Squirrel - Albert's Black

My daughter says it's a squirrel - looks like a rabbit to me. Took it out the back porch as it was on the move away. In the "Black Forest" (not all the animals are black :) NE of Colorado Springs about 7500 - 7800 ft. elevation.

An older shot of a pretty rare sight. A melanistic chipmunk...too much of the pigment melanin...similar to black squirrels which are really grey squirrels with the same story. Its just super rare to see a black chipmunk ...and then there are the strawberries which someone brought and I doubted it would be interested in them but ............Canon 7D
