Beast creature

Some fantasy creature design I did. 2019 © Porforever

A commissioned illustration of the Phalanx Thornwasp, a creature described in Dylan Glen's Homebrew DnD Bestiary book. This commission included a whole design process and the illustration. I had a blast painting and designing insect creatures!

Practicing with more dynamic forms, with the D&D monster as the subject. It was also nice to practice with imbuing a conservative and dark set of values with color.

It burrows into white sand where it can hide and wait for prey. This creature uses it's red tendrils as bait.

"Beware the Shadows: Encounter the Fiendish Black Bear, a monstrous predator with obsidian fur and infernal rage, lurking in the heart of darkness!"
