Art to Remember is upon us (me) and I haven’t even started one project. We will be starting the day we get back from holiday so I wanted to have this ready to go for my students.

The 2nd Grade students studied the artist Vincent Van Gogh and his artwork. We also read the book, Camille and the Sunflowers. The students were able to create a giant sunflower creating emphasis in their artwork. Then they were shown how to blend colors using oil pastels. The students had to choose a cool color for their background to make their sunflower "pop" in their piece of art.

The sun will come out! Do you need to reintroduce a warm and cool concept in a colorful way? Here is a fun lesson that incorporates line and color. My students really enjoy creating these adorable suns. Here Is What You Will Need: Adding the Lines With a sharpie, create lines to represent the rays of the sun and waves in the sea. This is the second year I've done this project and once again it was a success! We look at Thiebaud's art, get hungry and then layer on some ice cream. The kids color with crayon and then do a light watercolor over the top!
