The position of the body is already in place and gives us the opportunity to add a beautiful transition. The flow of these two exercises back to back just makes sense to me. 

The Up Stretch is performed in three movements and the Arabesque is performed with two. Up Stretch the weight is centered on both legs. Arabesque the weight shifts to a supporting leg letting the working leg open and close. Both exercises move the carriage back and forth. Both exercises are centered.
