With Prom coming up this weekend, take a look back at a Chelsea High School Dance from the 1950s. These photos were taken by Ralph Guenther sometime in the 1950s. 1950s formal dresses, evening gowns, cocktail party dresses and prom dresses were much like the popular dress styles of the 1950s. They accentuated waists with the-bigger-the-better length or tea length skirts, as that was all women wanted to wear. French designer Christian Dior’s “New Look” molded much of what we know today as 1950s fashion.
