The Tale of Genji 源氏物語 - a classic work of Japanese literature written by the Japanese noblewoman, Lady Murasaki Shikibu in the early years of the 11th century, around the peak of the Heian period. It is sometimes called the world's first novel, the first modern novel, the first psychological novel or the first novel still to be considered a classic...I LOVE this book!!!!

# 71 "Ishiyama moon" (Ishiyama no tsuki) -- Yoshitoshi's '100 Aspects of the Moon' Lady Murasaki is usually pictured in a violet robe (murasaki may be translated as "violet", or "purple", or "lavender"), sitting at her writing table in Ishiyama Temple, and looking out over a mountain landscape. Murasaki Shikibu is thought to be the author of the world’s first novel Genji monogatari ("The Tale of Genji").
