This dermatome is a map showing what areas of the body are affected by specific pinched nerves in the spine. My problems at L4-L5-S1 gave me pain at top of knees, down the backs of my thighs and back/outer side of calf, numb outer calf, outside of foot, and completely numb small toes, ice cold burn top of foot, and shooting pain into big toe.

Dermatome Map of the Body Each of the spinal nerves provides sensation to a predictable area of skin. Pain radiating down the leg to the small toe in the general pattern of the dermatome suggests.

Cranial Nerves

The spinal cord functions primarily in the transmission of neural signals between the brain and the rest of the body but also contains neural circuits that can independently control numerous reflexes and central pattern generators.
