The predator: Golden Orb Weaver Spider The prey: Chestnut-breasted Mannikin The battleground: Atheron, Australia Home to beer, barbies, and really fucking big spiders. The Golden Orb Weaver, (which is usually about the size of a human hand ...though the northern, tropical species is known to grow even larger)... spins a strong web high in protein because it depends on it to capture large insects for food. Once in awhile these sturdy webs also ensnare small birds.it's rare, but happens.

I thought it was fake but guess not: The wings are transparent, with a span of 5.6 to 6.1 cm (2.2 to 2.4 in). The butterfly's most common English name is glasswinged butterfly, and its Spanish name is "mariposa de cristal," which means "crystal butterfly". The tissue between the veins of its wings looks like glass, as it lacks the colored scales found in other butterflies. The opaque borders of its wings are dark brown, sometimes tinted with red or orange, and its body is dark in color.

The round pupil in a lizard is generally better adapted for diurnal species whereas slit pupils are found in nocturnal species. Most lizards can see in color and some have opsin proteins which allow them to see in ultraviolet wavelengths that the human eye cannot perceive.
