Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec as Pierrot, 1894 (Musée Toulouse-Lautrec, Albi) Toulouse-Lautrec (1864 - 1901) was the victim of a genetic defect that made his bones brittle and unable to heal properly after breaking. He ceased growing in early adolescence and was left abnormally short and walking with a limp.
