Point Betsie Lighthouse - Lake Michigan - Built in 1858 at 52 ft above lake level. In 1875 the life saving station was built. The light was originally equipped with a 4th Order Fresnel lens with a bulls eye & upgraded to a 3rd Order in 1880. The cylindrical tower is 39 ft tall on a dune. It's attached to the keeper's house & upgraded to an attractive gambrel roof design. It was manned for 106 yrs & the last lighthouse on Lake Michigan to lose its keeper when it was automated in 1983.
