President Jimmy Carter, 39th President of the United States (1977–1981) and First Lady Rosalynn Carter.  Rosalynn Carter first dated Jimmy in 1945 while he was serving at the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis. On July 7, 1946, they married in Plains, GA.

James Earl "Jimmy" Carter, Jr. (born 1924) was admitted to the Naval Academy in 1943. From 1946 to 1953, he served deployments in the Atlantic & Pacific fleets. Promoted to a full lieutenant, he completed qualification for command of a diesel-electric submarine. Carter served two terms as a Georgia State Senator & one as the Governor of Georgia, from 1971 to 1975. He served as the 39th President of the U.S. from 1977 to 1981. He was awarded the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize.
