Le onde lambivano i piedi della collina su cui sorgeva Ercolano e sulla spiaggia si aprivano i fornici, ambienti ricavati nei muri di sostegno per mezzo dei quali il dislivello del terreno che si affacciava sul mare era stato reso edificabile. — presso Ercolano.
