German submarine Korvettenkapitan Erich Topp (1914 - 2005) was the 3rd among the top scoring German sub commanders of WW2. Between 1940 and 1942, Topp sunk 34 ships, including a destroyer and an auxiliary warship, of 198,650 tons total displacement. In September 1942, Erich Topp was appointed commander of the 27th Submarine Flotilla. At the end of the war Topp, then commander of the submarine U-2513, surrendered on May 28, 1945 in Norway.
