Someone I look up to shared this Audre Lorde quote this week & it was exactly what I needed. It's overwhelming to see the scope of how deep systemic oppression runs in this country. It's tempting to quit trying, quit knowing just how terrible things are. It doesn't work though - it's much better to 'write fire until it's every breath you breathe' to know you've tried the best you can. Here's to all you meteors, trying & fighting.
Queued for AnimatingArticulation.tumblr.com project . . . . . a good quote for life as well as for improv and acting and art of all mediums (although what is life if not an art) . . . . “We have been raised to fear the yes in ourselves.” —Audre Lorde
For #blackhistorymonth, we would like to recognize Audre Lorde, a Black feminist leader. In our work at the Amara Legal Center, we look at our clients' lives through an intersectional lens like Lorde prescribes, realizing the impacts of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ability, etc. on their experiences.
