Astrid Lindgren (the mother of Pippi Longstocking and other famous children's books) I loved watching interviews with her (n Swedish) -- she had a lovely turn of phrase, a down to earth, unsentimental but very loving approach to life and a delicious sense of humor.
Astrid Lindgren (14 November 1907 – 28 January 2002) is best known for her children's book series featuring Pippi Longstocking. worked as a journalist and secretary before becoming a full-time author. After Lindgren's death, the government of Sweden started the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award in her memory. It is the world's largest monetary award for children's and youth literature, in the amount of five million krona (around 760,000 US dollars).
