Hourglass is a product inspired by the city of Despina described in Italo Calvino's book #Invisibili/08. The aim of this project was to incorporate the idea that the city acts as a shelter between two vast entities; the desert and the sea. The hourglass portrays Despina in the time of its existence. The sand represents the desert. On one side, the shape of a ship is revealed as the sand pours representing the sea and on the other is a model of the city that is gradually covered with time.

What Makes Argia different from other cities is that it has earth instead of air. The streets are completely flled with dirt, clay packs the rooms to the ceiling, on every stair another stairway is set in negative, over the roofs of the houses hang layers of rocky terrain like skies with clouds. Pag. 114
