When I was a burnt-out teacher, there’s one thing I wish someone had told me: “It’s okay to put yourself first.” Burnout can make it feel impossible to see past the next day, but you deserve a career that supports you, not one that drains you. You can make a change, but it starts with small steps toward your goal. Here are 3 ways to get started: 1️⃣ Reflect on Your Values: Write down what you truly value and what you’re passionate about. Ask yourself if your current role aligns with th...

Burnout can sneak up on us in any career.. BUT, especially in education. You probably didn’t even realize these 3 things were actually signs of teacher burnout: Constant Exhaustion - No amount of coffee or weekends is enough to recharge. Emotional Distance - Feeling detached from students, colleagues, and even your own passion. Dreading Sunday Nights - The Sunday scaries hit hard, every week. It’s not normal to need summers off to recharge just to go at it again next year.. (if your job is reasonable - doesn’t burn you out - you wouldn’t NEED the summer off). It’s NOT NORMAL that 6 weeks into a new school year, you’re crying on Sundays and at the end of the work day, you’re exhausted, run-down, have debilitating anxiety, and the occassional rash. The reality is, teacher burnout is a real thing. It’s easy to ignore the signs and chalk them up to the weather changing.. or whatev...

🎉 Yep, it’s the truth. The same district that was paying me $42/hour “extra duty pay” for all the additional evaluations I picked up to save their a$$, (& then refused to pay me for other work they had agreed to - after the work was already done 🙃 that’s another story) turned around and paid me $175/hour to tutor one of their students this summer as part of compensatory services 😅 Crazy how that works, huh? ✨ This just goes to show the magic that can happen when you let go of what you feel...
