The bank of the Po, the longest and largest Italian river, as it looks like near to Carignano in Piedmont. Poplar trees are often planted on the river banks to make them stronger. This location is just 15-20 minutes far from where I live and I can say I know each single tree, stone and blade of grass of it. I love this place, as it's very peaceful and rich of mood at every hour of day and night, and it's like a gold mine for photographic opportunities..I took this picture on a late evening…

This is the Orco river near the small village of Ceresole Reale in the Gran Paradiso National Park, Piedmont, Italy. I took this picture in a late afternoon at the beginning of February 2009, while it was snowing. I think it is a fair portrait of the exceptional snowfalls of winter 2009. At the time this picture was taken already three meters of snow had fallen at an altitude of about 1500 m..This is a mosaic of 3 horizontal frames, for a full size image of about25 Mp.

Dark, ominous, stormy clouds above the Gran Paradiso massif photographed from Valnontey, a small valley at the heart of the Gran Paradiso National Park in Aosta Valley, Italy. Rather amazingly it didn't rain, instead the sky broke a few minutes later, flooding the valley with the warm light of the setting sun..Stitched from four vertical frames.

A classic view from below of a bush of maple trees protunding in the blue sky. Taken an evening of mid October in Valle Stretta, a beautiful small valley of the Western Alps in Piedmont, Italy.

A view of the majestic northeastern portion of the Monte Bianco/Mont Blanc - from Dente del Gigante/Dent du Geant to Les Grandes Jorasses, with the first snow of the seasons and some beautiful fall colours on the larches of the Tete d'Arpy forest. Stitched from four verticals

The name of this place is a bit misleading, as instead of a lake there are streams and small ponds. However, there was actually a big lake here some century ago, but after decades of floods its bed is now almost completely filled up with debris. Making this plateau as one of the highest swamp in the world I guess. The Pyramides Calcaires are a wonderful mountain formation at the top of the Val Veny in Valle d'Aosta, Italy, and are part of the Monte Bianco range. While on my way up there…
