The festival is born in 1711 when an ox who had been working in the fields, knelt down during the passage of the procession of people who were bringing the mortal remains of St. Zopito to Loreto Aprutino. The festival is celebrated every year on Whit Monday in line with the harvesting of crops in the fields to attract the favor of the Saint Zopito on the fertility of the earth.
