21 Mexico City Airbnbs That Go Big on Contemporary Design
CDMX may be better known for its ancient ruins and unrivaled cuisine, but also hosts some of the design industry’s biggest rising stars. The best Mexico City Airbnbs get you up close and personal with all of its earthly delights and exquisite interiors, plus help you skip the sprawling resorts and big-name hotels for homegrown charm.
A Hudson Valley Cottage That Embraces Weirdness
Designer Ghislaine Viñas adorns her own home with pieces “that are a little freaky.” A Big Sur table from Crate & Barrel provides an earthy foil for the Tom Dixon Peg chairs in Fluoro, which Viñas claims she’s “loved every day for 10 years.” Here, they set a tonal color palette for the dining room, where a wall-mounted assemblage of travel souvenirs is thematically red. A Creative Director’s Milan Home Is a Master Class in Secondhand Shopping
There are so many stellar finds inside Sarah Keenlyside’s apartment. The living room has three different zones: a dining area beside the kitchen, a living area in the middle, and a library area at the end. “To make it work, we needed a big rug to define the living room zone, and I honestly fretted about it for almost a year until I settled on the lively yellow perforated rug from Brooklyn-based Bi-Rite Studio,” Keenlyside says. Tour a West Village Town House With a Vibrant Neo-Traditional Edge
Living in a West Village town house is a dream shared by many New Yorkers. When Andie and Jon Kully and their two children were lucky enough to upgrade from a Manhattan condominium to a storied brick-faced exemplar on a cobblestone street, they made theirs come true. Complete with a separate carriage house accessed via a covered horse walk, one of the city’s last remaining, the 1859-built abode had been previously renovated to handsome effect. However, its interior needed an overhaul to fit the Kully family’s needs—and taste. Photo by Regan Wood, Styled by Elaina Sullivan, Painting by Kikuo Saito.
Inside Guns N’ Roses Bassist Duff McKagan's Wildly Whimsical English Tudor in Seattle
Architect Nicolò Bini envisioned something sculptural to draw focus in the primary bedroom, “and it was probably going to be red and it was probably going to be Venetian.” The owner of Cristalleria Murano is “a huge Guns N’ Roses fan, so he really put his heart and soul into the chandelier,” the designer says.
