Inside Chrissy Metz’s LA Hideaway
The 5,700-square-foot Spanish Colonial Revival–style residence, located in a lush, gated community, represented more than just increased space and security for Metz. (Metz had experienced a break-in at her prior home.) It was kismet: As she puts it, the place was just “very intentional and very beautiful,” a quality evident in every detail. “Even the archways have vents that are arched,” Metz observes. “I think it’s different because the owner was the builder, and when the builder actually lives in the house, where there’s care that’s taken—it’s just very deliberate and purposeful.” Photo by Sam Frost
A "Wes Anderson–meets–Oscar Wilde Fantasyland" in London
Fashion designer Harris Reed describes the design process of each room as “building different outfits,” offering individual experiences. The hallway—and its black-and-white checkerboard marble flooring inspired by that at Claridge’s hotel—oozes Art Deco decadence, while the punchy colors of the bathroom create a visually distinct, whimsical world. Furniture is an eclectic mix spanning antiques to contemporary. Photo by Miguel Flores-Vianna, Styled by Joan Hecktermann
A Design Couple Conceives a Cozy and Creative Apartment in Sonoma
For Alex Mutter-Rottmayer and Austin Carrier, husbands and the designers behind Hommeboys Interiors and Haus of Hommeboys, the separation between life, work, and play is infinitesimal. Considering this, it’s no surprise that the AD PRO Directory members’ office, showroom, and home all sit under one roof. With a custom marble trough sink and millwork fabricated by Haus of Hommeboys, the primary bathroom manages a lightness with Zia Tile’s zellige tile in Skylight and a mirror, light fixtures, and hardware by Rejuvenation.
Inside Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos’s Art Deco Home in New York
AD100 Hall of Fame interior designer William Sofield, the jovial godfather of modern luxury whose clients have included Tom Ford and Ralph Lauren, designed the couple's New York town house. Ripa and Consuelos brought on Sofield and his creative right hand and vice president at Studio Sofield, Emma O’Neill, to renovate their Upper East Side home when they purchased it 12 years ago. Tour a Hudson Valley Cottage That Embraces Weirdness
By all appearances, New York designer Ghislaine Viñas and husband Jaime’s Arts and Crafts cottage in the Hudson Valley seems stylistically aligned to the 43 acres of bucolic idyll—complete with forested pockets and babbling brooks—that it has anchored since 1927. Purchased in early 2022, a newly painted exterior was the easiest way for Viñas, the AD PRO Directory member, to give the aging house a fresh look. While her choice of monochrome white emphasizes the home’s provincial charm, once you step inside, all preconceived notions of the countryside aesthetic take a hike. Jennifer Garner's California Home Blends Farmhouse Charm and Contemporary Comfort
Garner’s search for the perfect place began more than five years ago. “I realized that I was going to need to move out of a dream house kind of scenario,” she says. “I looked and looked for a house to move into, but I needed privacy, and any house that had privacy was more grand than I felt comfortable in.” This challenge led her to consider crafting something from scratch. “I was frustrated, but finally said, Okay, I think I’m going to have to build and found this lot.” She then enlisted the now Tennessee-based husband-and-wife architect and interior designer duo Steve and Brooke Giannetti, with whom she had worked before on previous projects.
