Roman gold hoop earrings, 1st-2nd century A.D. Nabatean, Jordanian. The earrings are composed of two elements, the hoop, which was inserted into the earlobe and the pendant fixed to the underside of the ring. The hoop is a circular wire with the clasp at the top, it is decoratedwith a series of small cast spheres. The pendant was formed from two spheres positioned vertically and separated by a granulated frieze with some geometric motifs, 6.7 cm long. Private collection

Roman obsidian and gilt glass finger ring, 1st-2nd century A.D. The obsidian hoop slightly convex on the interior, with broad shoulders, the oval bezel set with a pale transparent thin green glass gem engraved with the Dioscuri standing on a groundline, Castor and Pollux both depicted nude, each armed with a crested helmet, holding a spear in one upraised hand, a sheathed sword and a shield in the other, the engraved areas overlaid with gold foil, 3.8 cm wide.
