Two Near Eastern helmet,1st half of the 1st millennium B.C. The skull is of bronze with a large percentage of copper. It is relatively shallow, strongly domed, and comparatively thin-sided. The top of the helmet is crowned with an embossed flat knob. Assyrian helmet, pointed, conical bronze helmet, 8th - 7th century B.C. Featuring an indistinct medial ridge and long stem crowned by a conical spike. Approximately 3 mm above the lower edge pierced holes. The skull is comprised of two overlapping halves connected by a number of round bronze rivets. The stem with the spike probably made of one piece and separately connected to both halves of the skull, probably in cast-over technique. Private collection, from Hermann Historica auction

Iranian helmet with inscription, 1st half of the 1st millennium B.C. A bronze hemispherical skull with a rectangular face cutout. Rich decoration in the form of strips of bosses, and an anthropomorphic image on the forehead with bent arms raised upwards (prayer posture). In the neck area deeply incised cuneiform script (Elamite?) cartouches, as yet unreadable, next to two bronze rivets, possibly for the neck guard, 14.5 cm high.
